In The Groove was conceived in April of 2020. With coronavirus infiltrating our world, I saw it as an opportunity to dig deep into my creative cauldron and brew up some musical ideas. In The Groove is me finding my groove during these interesting times. Everybody has their own groove and if we stay in ours, life would flow much better.

Compositionally, the goal of this album was to create songs that included 3 main things: singable and catchy melodies, meaningful and intentional improvisation, and GROOVE...and more groove. The groove is the foundation. Improvisation provide the walling and support beams, The melodies form the roofing. All of that together makes a nice cozy resting place for your ears.
The music in the album combines a few different genres; a fusion some would say. From ambient moments to hip hop beats. From EDM to contemporary jazz. My goal was to utilize different genres of music I appreciate to create a unique listening experience. As a pianist, the piano is the prevailing sound in all my compositions. Sometimes it floats in, out and around a steady groove, while synth or drum pads or bass take the lead. At other times , the piano is in the forefront.

This project is special to me because it is the first one that I produced. Putting together different sounds and creating all the compositions has brought me great joy. This joy shines through in my music.

Creating music that everyone can enjoy, while still being true to my musical ingenuity was vital to me. Every composition is intentional. Every melody is organic. All the soloing comes from a place of gratefulness, love , and passion.
